Hmm, the Savage crankcase is vented, too - there is a vent tube attached to the right front top of the cylinder head which should provide it. Underneath, inside the case, there is a small steel wool packet which should hold back oil vapour from leaking outside - maybe one of those parts is blocked somehow?
